- 8 Weeks of hands-on welder training in the state-of-the-art Training Center in Brownsville, Pennsylvania.
- Learn from experts at Heartland Fabrication.
- Learn how to weld: flat, vertical, MIG, stick and flux-core.
- Manufacturing experience preferred.
- Potential candidates must fill out an application and be hired to proceed in program.
Our FACILITY
CLASSROOM
1,400 sq. ft. area includes:
- 24 seat classroom
- Men’s and Woman’s locker rooms
- Kitchenette
- Director’s office
WELD LAB
2,400 sq. ft. area includes:
- 18 welding booths
- Testing room
- Instructor’s office
LAB EQUIPMENT
- 18ea Lincoln Flextec welding power sources ranging from 350 – 600 amps capacity, capable of welding FCAW (flux cored arc welding), GMAW (gas metal arc welding), SMAW (shielded metal arc welding – stick) and SAW (submerged arc welding).
- 12ea Lincoln LN-25 suitcase style wire feeders
- 6ea Lincoln Active 8 wire feeders
- 1ea Lincoln LT-7 submerged arc wire feeder
- 1ea Hypertherm Powermax 125 hand/machine plasma cutter
- 1ea Lincoln downdraft table
Curriculum: Welding (8 Week)
Program Highlights

WELD PROCESSES TAUGHT
- FCAW – Flux-cored arc welding
- SMAW – Shielded metal arc welding (stick)
- CAG/PAG – Carbon arc gouging / plasma arc gouging
- SAW – Submerged arc welding
Practical Weld Tests
3RD CLASS WELDER:
- 2F FCAW (flux cored – fillet weld, horizontal and vertical positions)
2ND CLASS WELDER:
- 3F and 4F SMAW (fillet test with break and macro etch)
- 3G and 4G FCAW (groove weld with backing – vertical and overhead)

PRACTICAL TESTS
3RD CLASS FITTER:
- Written test, layout and cutting flat plate
2ND CLASS FITTER:
- Written test, layout and cutting flat plate, tack weld plate into final configuration
COURSE OUTLINE: Fitting + Welding
WEEK 1:
Intro to HF, Intro to Fitting, Oxy-Fuel Training, Layout for Fitters, A Fitter’s Introduction to Welding, Quality Assurance, and Electrical Theory
WEEK 2:
Intro to Shop Math, Blueprint Reading (includes the alphabet of lines), Using an Angle Grinder, Using a Chain Pull, and Reading a Tape Measure
WEEK 3:
Shop Math, Blueprint Reading
WEEK 4:
Blueprint Reading, Enhanced Safety (back/lifting); entire class working in bottoms/panels
WEEK 5:
Enhanced Safety (welding), and Shop Math Including Conversions, and Geometry; entire class working in sterns
WEEK 6:
On-Floor Practical in Individual Shops
WEEK 7:
Shop Math, and Enhanced Safety (fall protection); entire class working in MBA
WEEK 8:
Shop Math (review), Enhanced Safety (Safety’s Top Ten), and Drawing Reviews; entire class working in erection
WEEK 9:
On-Floor Practical in Individual Shops
WEEK 10:
Final Practical Tests
STAFF
Trainers (3):
- All shifts
- Teaches students to weld safely and effectively
- Demonstrates welding techniques and skills
- Creates and implements lesson plans
- Mentor new employees for Heavy Industrial Welding
Training Center Manager
- Sanctioned position for Weld School as an AWS (American Welding Society) CWI (certified welding inspector)
