Designs complex detailed drawings, sketches, and profiles used in the planning or construction of various structural steel and barge design. Works as directed to conceive of or create form and design variations for consideration. Analyzes plans for potential cost and engineering consideration. Draws preliminary sketches of proposed projects utilizing Pro Nest CAD/CAM or other PC technology.

This position is responsible will be responsible for executing building projects as directed and general maintenance. You will perform specialized tasks related to the building’s HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry and painting maintenance. This position reports directly to the Maintenance Supervisor. The focus of this position will be to support the assembly floor and the entire facility

Fabricates and repairs material by using the appropriate welding processes and techniques in the vertical, horizontal and overhead positions. Welding is done utilizing the SMAW (stick), GMAW (MIG), FCAW (flux-core) and SAW (submerged arc) processes when necessary as called out by the drawing.

Candidate will be assigned to operate and set up conventional or numerical control (NC) machines to fabricate parts, applying knowledge of shop math, machinability of materials and drawings.

Coatings /painting large structures to exact specifications.

Candidate will be assigned to operate and set up conventional or computer numerical control (CNC) machines to fabricate parts, applying knowledge of shop math, machinability of materials and drawings.

Measure and layout larger more complex subassemblies typically found at the erection area in shop #5, sterns, rake assembly and rake attachment to barge. Direct and/or guide a tacker/welder in placing tack welds as dictated by the drawing or good assembly practices all in conformance with the drawing. Check for fairness and squareness of the barge subassemblies as they are erected by the use of piano wire, spreader beams, etc., using proper reference points as dictated by the drawing

Participate in the construction, installation, modification, maintenance and repairs of electrical appliances, systems, facilities and related electronic controls of varying complexity. Responsible for overall maintenance and repair of equipment, tools and machinery as assigned to the maintenance team by the plant manager or other supervisor as needed.
