Job Description:

Coatings /painting large structures to exact specifications.


Starting Pay:

$20 – $35/hr

Industrial Painter

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Mix Epoxy and Macropoxy
  • Perform Reasonable Expectations (RE)-Permitted 10% over as indicted per chart
  • Be able to visual inspect the following equipment:
    • Ladders
    • Harnesses
  • Must be able to clean and visual inspect the following equipment:
    • Paint Lines
    • Spray Guns
  • Must be able to perform the following task with zero (0) defects
    • Internal – Voids
    • External – Bottoms, Stencil, Safety Stripe, and Deck Fittings
  • Must be able to operate the following equipment:
    • Allegro fans
    • Air horns
    • Mixer
    • Paint pump
    • Wet film thickness gauge
  • Assist person spraying outside of barge
  • Perform all brush, roll and mitting tasks

Skill Factors:

  • Must be able to follow simple written and verbal directions in order to mix the paint properly and on a timely basis
  • Must be physically able to lift 50 pounds
  • Must be able to wear a full face respirator
  • Must be able to distinguish between hazardous and non-hazardous waste
  • Must be knowledgeable of and use proper personal protective equipment
  • Must be trained in confined space entry rules and regulations
  • Must be aware of proper testing for oxygen levels and LEL benchmarks before entering confined space to spray paint
  • Must be knowledgeable of proper ventilation techniques using air horns and exhaust fans
  • Must be knowledgeable of explosion proof requirements of all equipment in the paint building

Work Conditions:

  • Environment is that of a heavy industrial worksite
  • Outdoor elements are a factor. Extreme weather conditions such as heat and cold.
  • Exposure to air particles, such as dust and chemicals
  • Exposure to loud, penetrating noises in some work areas
  • Proper personal protective equipment is required at all times such as, metatarsal boots, ear plugs/ear muffs, safety glasses, long sleeved shirts and pants, hard hats and respirator use
  • This is a safety-sensitive position. A safety sensitive job or position is where the employee holding the position has, at any time during his or her employment, the responsibility for his or her own safety or the safety of others

Education Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred; however it is not required
  • Previous work experience in a heavy industrial or construction environment is preferred; however, it is not a requirement
